City & Guilds Level 5 NVQ: Occupational Health and Safety & 5 Day Course

Course Description:

This level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and safety Practice package is for those of you who wish to demonstrate and develop their skills and knowledge in managing health and safety for the workplace.

You are likely to 'report to' or be part of the senior management team, or have management support for your health and safety responsibilities. You will be aware of cost implications and budgetary controls and maybe a budget holder.

The qualification will enable you to develop and demonstrate the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the occupational health and safety sector.  Upon completion you will be in a position to apply for Grad IOSH (You must enrol prior to 31st August 2022) and continue working towards chartered status if you wish.

This package comes complete with our Health & Safety Management, classroom or online course, included along with handbook and workbook, ensuring you are up to date with both legislation and policy.  You also have options to complete the NEBOSH NG2 and examinations at preferential rates should you wish but you are under no obligation to do so and it is not mandatory in undertaking the diploma.

Observations

As part of NVQ standards providers must obtain an observation of the candidate’s workplace this can be conducted by a recorded video by the candidate and authenticated by witness testimony and you will be assisted in undertaking this where required.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification and you may be a staff member, supervisor, assistant manager, manager or health and safety practitioner looking to improve your knowledge and skills. However, it is expected that you are an experienced health and safety practitioner with direct health and safety responsibilities within a workplace. We will discuss this in more depth with you in our initial meeting (virtual online or telephone) to establish that this level of NVQ is suitable for you to undertake and that you can demonstrate the competence needed within your current work role.

Support

You will receive full uncapped access to the Goldcross safety assessment team for the duration of your NVQ (up to a maximum of 24 months the maximum time permitted for completion) .

Course Format

The learning material is provided electronically with a guidebook and assessment plan. The assessment team will monitor your progress to offer you support and guidance throughout your course.

Assessment

Assessment for the NVQ Level 5 Health and Safety Diploma is by the production of a personal portfolio demonstrating understanding and application of the standards at this level; this is greatly simplified by our eLearning platform, where evidence can be electronically submitted toward your Health and Safety NVQ.

Certification

You will receive your ‘e-cert’ within 1 week of completion of the NVQ and your hard copy within 4 weeks of completion – subject to full payment having been received.

NVQ Qualification Duration

2 years access (average completion time is 8 - 12 months.  A minimun of 12 months is required if you choose to complete the elective unit 611- Professional development and ethics in Health and Safety Management)

Recognition of Professional bodies

IIRSM

Candidates may apply to the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management for membership at associate level

IOSH

You will need to maintain your CPD with IOSH whilst studying this course and we advise you to join IOSH as a member at the point of enrolment.
