NEBOSH National General Certificate – Online Course

The NEBOSH General Certificate Online Course, often referred to as distance or e-learning, is ideal for those individuals who require a high level of flexibility and wish to complete their studies in a more leisurely manner. This course will provide you with the same qualification as either the classroom or remote-tutor led courses and you will recieve the exact same certificate upon completion.

It is not only a cost efective way to study for your qualification but you can undertake your studies at your own pace from the comfort of your own home, or any other location you choose, providing you have suitable internet access.

Our e-learning platform has been designed to be both intuitive and easy to use with the course being broken down into units and elements (manageable chunks), you will also find; tasks, quizzes and tests to help you review your level of progress in preperation for your exam and practical assessment. Student interaction is definetly encouraged and an online forum has been provided where you can interact with other students taking the course and your course tutor.

NEBOSH National General Certificate Syllabus

The NEBOSH National General Certificate (NGC) is UK focused and is based on UK law. It consists of two (2) units and these must both be completed within a five year period in order to be awarded the NEBOSH National General Certificate parchment/qualification.

Your instructors responsibility:

Course instructors are all experienced as both health and safety professionals and as NEBOSH instructors. The instructors are also experts in their fields and have a wealth of knowledge beyond the normal requirements. They know what is required for successful completion of the training. You will have an opportunity at the end of the course to complete a formal course evaluation including any recommendations that you may have or improving the way in which the course is presented. It would be of mutual benefit if any such observations made during the course are highlighted at the time so that corrective action can be taken without delay.

Instructors will:

Ensure that the syllabus is covered
Refer to the notes and workbook where appropriate
Answer questions raised by delegates (either at the time of asking or a later date when appropriate).
Encourage interaction by use of syndicate exercises as an example.

To achieve success, you should:

Take active part in the sessions, asking questions when you consider it appropriate and making your own notes to help the learning process.
Be aware of the tight timetable and avoid excessive diversions from the main points of the syllabus.
Avoid private conversations in discussions during teaching sessions, they can be more disruptive to the other delegates and the tutors than you may realise.
Mark in the notes the key points identified during lectures and note any examples given by lectures which help to illustrate the contents.
Consolidate your knowledge as you proceed through the program. Delegates who read in the evening the notes relating to the subject covered during the day are most successful; and
Regularly check the syllabus to assess your own progress using the sample questions to test your understanding.

During the course do not be afraid to ask questions to clarify anything you are not sure of. Discuss with your instructor anything that you are particularly concerned with or, if you have any personal difficulties that may affect you whilst following or completing of the course. Have full participation in syndicate exercises, these are particularly valuable in sharing the knowledge and experience of other delegates.

Following each session, it is a good practice and advisable to review the previous sessions before starting the next. Putting your knowledge to the test with questions and feedback is an essential part of the learning process.

Here at Goldcross Training our aim is to provide students with the best possible opportunity of successfully completing their NEBOSH studies and we recognise that all students’ requirements vary. As a result, we offer students the flexibility to undertake their training in a number of different ways:

Block Week Courses – Block week courses normally run during the working week from Monday to Friday (5 Days) with one NEBOSH training unit being completed in this time. This option is suitable for those individuals who are fully funded by their employer or those that can take suitable time off work and can commit to their studies for the whole week.
Day Release Courses – The NEBOSH course day release option offers considerably more flexibility and provides students the opportunity to spread their studies over a longer time period, normally five weeks. This can be particularly important if your employer is unable to release you for a full week at a time or you have other commitments that must be provided for i.e. you may have responsibilities as a carer and or parent.
Weekend Courses – The weekend option is specifically provided for those individuals who cannot or do not wish to take time off work during the week. These five-day units are normally provided over either two and a half weekends or four and a half weekends.
Mix & Match – Delegates are not locked into a specific training centre or method by which they can complete their NEBOSH studies. They have the flexibility to undertake different units at different Goldcross training centres and different units using any of the above options.
Conversion Courses – These courses provide an opportunity where students can utilise units from their previous NEBOSH studies (i.e. NG1) as credit towards additional/new NEBOSH qualifications.
Online – Delegates are not tied down to specific classroom start dates or study times. This mode of learning provides considerable flexibility to undertake your study utilising our e-learning platform within your own environment and around your normal daily routine. (Under Development!)
Virtual Online – Delegates can join the ‘virtual’ classroom remotely and undertake the learning experience live with their allocated tutor and alongside other delegates. (Under Development!)
